Let me know your thoughts on ‘The Art of Listening’
What does ‘listening’ entail for you? How do you manifest active listening in your life? At home? At work? How do you manage challenging conversations?
I’m working on the second article in a series about ten qualities of a good human—dimensions of character to cultivate over a lifetime. The first was ‘The Power of Being Present: The Simple Habit That Can Change Your Life’.
These are a follow on from a similar series I wrote about leadership on LinkedIn.
I’m the first to acknowledge that I write from my personal experience—a specific perspective. However, I am determined to be cognisant of broader and more diverse views and opinions, wherever possible, to counter my innate biases.
At the moment, I'm working on 'The Art of Listening'.
"The most basic of all human needs is the need to understand and be understood."
Ralph Nichols
I'm thinking around these ideas:
Moving beyond passive hearing to active understanding
The role of non-verbal cues in deep listening
How to suspend judgment and personal bias while listening
Practicing empathetic listening in challenging conversations
Building trust through consistent, attentive listening
What does ‘listening’ entail for you? How do you manifest active listening in your life? At home? At work? How do you manage challenging conversations?
